1. What is the RedCrocus 100% Guarantee?
We offer a 100% unconditional guarantee. If you are not satisfied, we will reship or refund immediately. We want you happy and be our continued customer.
2. How old are the plants when shipped? What size are the plants when shipped?
Our plants right now are between 4-6 months old. The plants will be fully rooted and leafed out. The plant tops will vary in height by variety, but if they are taller than 6-8″ above the pot we cut them back to fit in our boxes. This does not harm the plant in any way, and actually helps to promote a bushier, fuller plant. Keeping the plants small makes it easier to ship and keeps the shipping costs reasonable. All the varieties we sell are fast growing varieties and once transplanted should reach the optimum size in 6-12 weeks during the growing season.
3. What size are your pots?
We grow in one size – quart (close to 4 * 4 * 5 in) containers for Heuchera, Heucherella, Tiarella and Begonias. We are also slowly transitioning to using a coco fiber pot whose sizes are slightly less than a quart. The hanging baskets are 13in containers.
We do buy plants from other nurseries, in which case, sizes might vary slightly.
4. What is a Perennial and what is an Annual?
A perennial is a plant that will live multiple growing seasons unlike an annual which grows, sets seed, and dies all in one season. The perennials flowering time is not as long as an annual because the plant must take time out to gather enough strength to overwinter. An annual may flower multiple times during the same season if you deadhead/cut spent blooms before they grow to become seeds.
5. Are your Begonia’s perennial ?
All of our Begonia’s are annuals unless specifically noted in the product page. They will die at the end of the season.
6. My plants just arrived. What should I do now?
Open the box, unpack the plants, and place the plants in a shady spot, and water them thoroughly. They should perk up overnight if looking wilted. Let them catch their breath for a day or two, then plant them in the ground, again watering thoroughly. Plants can actually be maintained in their pots for several days, just keep them moist and in dappled light. Any questions, just give us a call.
7. How long will it take to receive my order?
You will receive your order within 7-14 days of ordering. To prevent the plant boxes sitting in the shippers warehouses during weekends, we ship only on mondays and tuesdays. This ensures that the plants reach their destination before the weekend. If you have specific questions or want to change the shipping dates, please email us and we will do our best to accommodate your requests. We will email you the tracking number as soon as we are ready to ship.
8. Where all do you ship to?
At present we ship to all the 48 contiguous States in the US. We currently do not ship to Hawaii, Alaska or Puerto Rico.
9. Can you procure a particular variety we are looking for?
Let us know your request via our ‘Contact Us’ page and we will definitely try asking around other growers and nurseries from where we procure to see if the variety you are interested is available and let you know.
10. Why do the shade of color of the leaves of some of the plants you sent me look different than the pics on your site?
The leaf color of Heuchera and Heucherella can change with light and soil conditions as they grow. We sometimes leave them under heavy shade that can cause the leaf color to change from the pics during their growth phase. These will return to their normal shades once they go in the ground and exposed to the right light conditions. While we strive that the variety you ordered is the one that reaches you, unfortunately we cannot guarantee that it will look exactly like that in the profile pics because of the above reasons.
